Dr. Stevenson was honored to be a local co-chair for the 2023 Iowa Mission of Mercy (IMOM) held at the Waterloo Convention Center at Five Sullivan Brothers Plaza in October. Dr. Stevenson and the IMOM committee met every few weeks virtually and in person for the 8 months prior to the event. This was a free two-day clinic where services offered included cleanings, extractions, partials, fillings, and root canals. Volunteer dentists, hygienists, assistants, and general volunteers provided almost one million dollars worth of free dentistry to 1,081 patients. Dr. Stevenson’s entire team volunteered their time to help those in need that weekend. To learn more about the success of the 2023 IMOM check out their website at iowamom.org/our-impact.
See event photosAll Smiles Family Dentistry and Dr. Stevenson have been hosting their annual Halloween Candy Buy Back in the Cedar Valley since 2009. Over the years Dr. Stevenson has been able to collect thousands of pounds of candy from hundreds of children in our area. This event is held the day after Halloween and is located at 915 Hudson Road. On November 1, 2023 from 3-6pm Dr. Stevenson and her team collected well over 100 pounds of candy at this event. Dr. Stevenson has donated this candy to various military organizations in the past, including Iowa’s Bravest and Operation Gratitude. This year the candy was donated and shipped to Soldier’s Angels. To find out more about Solider’s Angels you can visit their website at soldiersangels.org. Dr. Stevenson makes this event positive by giving children one dollar per pound of candy (we always round up!) and entering the children who participate into raffles! See event photos
In October 2023, Dr. Stevenson went on a mission trip to Guatemala to provide free dental care to those in need. During her time on this trip, she and nineteen other dentists from across the world saw 435 patients and removed over 1100 teeth. Dr. Stevenson and her peers were able to provide over $550,000 worth of free dentistry in just four days of clinic. This mission group set up, ran, and tore down the makeshift dental clinic in a basketball gymnasium without air conditioning. When asking Dr. Stevenson what the highlight of her trip was, she quickly answered “The patients”. Dr. Stevenson treated many patients on Monday who returned later that week to introduce Dr. Stevenson to their friends and family. Smiles are universal and personal referrals are the greatest compliments across any language.
