• Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a mild form of sedation that wears off quickly. It’s usually recommended for people who have mild anxiety about visiting the dentist.

Usually, nitrous oxide is delivered through a small mask that is placed over your nose. The mask is connected by a tube to a small gas canister. The gas is mixed with oxygen and is delivered through the mask.

Nitrous oxide is one of the most common anesthetics used in dentistry. It is quick-acting and wears off quickly. Our dentist can adjust the level of sedation as needed. It is a good choice for people who experience mild anxiety before dental treatments. This mild sedative will help you relax during the procedure, but you will be able to respond to our dentist’s questions and instructions.

• IV Sedation

IV sedation is administered through an intravenous line. This line delivers medication into the bloodstream. These medications help patients to feel more relaxed during their dental treatment.

Compared to nitrous oxide, IV sedation provides a deeper level of relaxation and can be used over a longer period of time. Patients undergoing complex treatments and lengthy procedures will find that IV sedation offers a better level of relaxation over a longer period.
